Good overview but too theoretical

In this second volume, the author covers almost all soft issues: how to organize great meetings, active listening, conflict management tactics, motivation theories (such as Maslow's, Erg's, Herzberg's and Mc Clelland's), guidelines for successful negotiations and team development stages.
It is a good summary but is a bit short of practical examples or case studies to make this knowledge actionable.

a great, hairy

Dr Verma was one of my professors in grad school, and I believe he might agree that separating out the "human aspects" of any management job says a lot, a great, hairy, negative lot, about the current state of management science.
Project management, in particular, is like being on a large boat with no sail and no motor. The milling, disinterested crew members have each been given a tiny oar. To them, you are no one in particular, you are just the jerk who is trying to make them row with that ridiculous little stick. Would you say there might be "human aspects" to getting that boat across the ocean?Mentally review your high school and undergraduate years. Do you see clear evidence that you have a knack for making groups perform cooperatively without coercion or authority of any kind? No? That's great. There are a zillion closets out there that need your organization skills. Do yourself and your coworkers a favor, and stay the big, fat, H out of management.
Glance through what you are assigned from this text as quickly as you can scan in what you need to pass, and remember: it's an obstacle course, not an education.

We recently had a tragedy in my family and I lost both my sister and brother-in-law in a boating accident. My great-niece (their granddaughter) lived with them and I became very concerned with how she would handle these sudden deaths. I bought this book because of the reviews and I'm SO GLAD I did!! My great-niece looked at her mom the other day and told her that her invisible string is really long because it reaches MeMe and Paw all the way in heaven. Talk about tears, but such a relief that she knows they are watching her and love her. My fear was that she would think they just left.

Thank you for such a phenomenal book that was interpreted correctly by my smart, beautiful 6 year old great-niece

I discovered this book, The Invisible String, when my toddler started having separation anxiety. This book is deeply meaningful and has been an invaluable tool in our home!

As a mother of two young children, I am always looking for books that have relatable characters, carry a strong message and show healthy ways to process feelings. The Invisible String does all of that and more. My three-year-old son loves reading about Liza and Jeremy. He asks me lots of questions about the twins and is curious about each page of the book. Additionally, the story lends itself to deeper conversations about love and interconnectedness. I feel so fortunate to have this book as an anchor for our conversations.

After reading this book, my son and I started wearing an “invisible string” on our wrists, which my son pulls on when he misses me. He has been wearing it for over a year now and it is such a comfort to him. I really recommend this book!
