A Classic and, mutandis mutandi, still has much to tell us

I believe I said all that I need to in my title. I would simply recommend it to anyone interested in sociological forms of social criticism. I would also recommend The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit (good book -- also good film).

However, and I cannot emphasize this strongly enough -- everyone should start with Max Weber's magisterial The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, which is the origin of all works treating the subject-matter in the works I cite above. You will never view the term "work ethic" the same way again.

Organizational life de-mystified

This book gives amazingly timeless observations about corporation life that are crucial for people to revisit. I found the information very valuable in validating and understanding my experiences in trying to not only survive but also thrive in organization life. The book made me realize that corporate life is a relatively new structure in terms of how humans make their livings. Highly recommended and I have flagged many passages for further reflection.

Classic Yes Man Conditioning

I give this book a 5 star rating because I ordered it used and received and early printing (a nice thing for collectors). Really...It reads like many of the erudite books of the 50s and 60s but it basically shows how the American work psyche and ideas on successful work turned away from free thinking and small business ownership/self employment to top-down driven corporate thought where the boss is right because he's the boss and not because he is right. It made me see the American work psyche as moving towards that of the military work psyche. For example, in the military, if the general says the sky is green, you say yes Sir. In corporate America, I'm sad to say, it is the same. For all of the patriotic types (I'm one of them), I can not apply the same sadness for the military because it requires submission and a top-down system of authority to get some of the crazy things accomplished that debate or double thinking would ruin.

This books benchmarks the change and the process in America to a Yes Man culture. As a footnote, I read this book a while ago but took a while to write a review. I think I will reread it on my next deployment.

Extremely Good Book on SiteCatalyst

This is an excellent book on Adobe SiteCatalyst, written by one of the predominant leaders on the software, Adam Greco. If you want to understand, in depth, the technical side of SC, then this book is for you. I bought it for this very reason. However, a need did arise after purchasing the book for more in depth information/guidance on how to actually use SiteCatalyst. I would have liked the book to have covered SiteCatalyst's Reporting capabilities. Specifically, tips on reporting as well as examples (best practices) of reports people, or even Mr. Greco, have built with SC in the past.

I learn best from real world examples, use cases, etc., but will defend this book in any day of the week!

ONE of the deciding factors when I bought this book was that it was published in 2013 and most importantly, the information provided is timely and relevant to the most recent version of SiteCatalyst.

Well Done Mr. Greco!

Final advice...If you have anything to do, in any way or role whatsoever, with SiteCatalyst, BUY THIS BOOK!

Should be included with every SiteCatalyst implementation

This book literally has anything and everything you could ever want to know about Adobe SiteCatalyst: features you never knew existed, features you are using but not using to their fullest potential and the best explanation you'll ever get on how the features you are currently using actually work. Having gone through a re-implementation of SiteCatalyst in the past year I wish I had had this book before hand but there are just as many improvements we can make to correct these issues based on what is in Adam's book. Honestly every SiteCatalyst user should read this book to ensure they are getting the most they possibly can out of the tool. Adam does not exaggerate his "Insider" status.

Beautiful!

I ordered this just after Christmas, and it finally arrived. It is beautiful! You're not going to want a Bible cover for this. The cover is so soft! I'm attaching pictures, because the pictures posted by Amazon don't do it justice. (My pictures don't do it justice either. I'm just posting more to give you a better idea.)

It's about two to two and a half inches thick, and the pages have a beautiful floral print with butterflies along the outside of the book. This should be visible in the attached photos. There aren't many full pages for coloring, but I like that. (The primary purpose of this is the Bible.) I also like that the pages that don't have a design in the margin are lined, so I can either color something I want, or take notes/journal. The pages are thin, so I will stick solely to colored pencils. I wouldn't risk it with markers or pens--they would probably bleed through.

I am incredibly pleased! I typically read KJV, but I thought this was worth a try. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Now, I'm going to buy one for my mother and my mother-in-law! Absolutely beautiful.

Update: Zig Memory Writer Pens work great, no bleeding at all as long as I don't use the fat end!!! Faber-Castell Pitt Colored Pens work okay if you are careful.

I love the NLT version for personal study. I was excited to receive this one to color the drawings. One of the Amazon photos shows a page being colored with markers. Having now used and tested several different brands of markers, I can say that all show through and some bleed through to the paper I put behind the page I was testing on. I think the only media that I will use is colored pencils after this marker test. See the pictures I took. The Tombow marker bled through to the back the most, however, I was quite surprised it didn't bleed through to the paper I placed behind.

Beautiful Bible!

I was NOT expecting this Bible to be so beautiful when I preordered it 5 months ago, but it arrived in the mail today and it is just gorgeous! I love the concept of Bible journaling, but was always a bit intimidated by where/how to start. This removes that concern through some beautifully done artwork and lettering. I am ecstatic at the quality of this Bible!
